He also let all the boys in his group do all the work."'Which is better- to be a pack of painted Indians like you are, or to be sensible like Ralph is?' A great clamor rose among the savages. Later in the book, he soon becomes obsessed with hunting and only focuses on that task. The disadvantages that Jack had a really strong desire for power. Piggy slowly looses all his strenghts like intelligence and science, when they take away his glasses. Also, towards the end of the book, Ralph begins to loose most of the boys. ![]() The disadvantages that Ralph had as a leader was that he was too focused on being rescued and the fire. Jack had also the determination for power, which ment that no matter what, he would do anything to have total power. He could control everyone around him and he was also the leader of his hunter boys. Jack had the hunters beside him even though he didn't have Piggy. Ralph also has Piggy alongside him all the time which helps him make the right decisions since Piggy is all about sicence and knowledge. Ralph showed confidence in himself which made all the little kids look up at him as someone that they could trust. The other thing is that Ralph was originally their leader because they had voted for him in the beginning of the book. The advantages of Ralph having power were that first of all, Ralph had the conch which ment law and order.
